Hi guys! Welcome back ❤
So this blog post is for all of those (red) meat-lovers out there who crave a good steak dinner. Even though I grew up in Beijing and we literally eat Chinese food almost all the time, my dad and I have always been more into Western cuisine, and for him, it is pizza and steak. So making steak at home whether is grilling or just pan frying sometimes just reminded me of home and the time I spent with family ❤
I have tried many different recipes before and this one is the most recent recipe I have been using. Mostly because it is super easy! It literally takes me about 10 minutes now so it is perfect for a quick dinner (obviously add whatever sides you want – this time I enjoyed it some roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes leftover from the other night)

So for this recipe you will need:
- Your favorite cut of steak – I normally use ribeye or NY Strip with a decent thickness (does this make sense? LOL)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Your favorite seasoning (optional)
- Olive Oil
- Butter
- A couple cloves of garlic, peeled
- Rosemary
Now we can start!
First, prep the steak by sprinkle salt and pepper (you can add your favorite seasoning too) on both sides and you can let it sit for either just minutes or 30 minutes.
Then, when steak is prepped, heat the frying pan using high heat. The trick is the pan has to be REALLY REALLY hot when you put the steak in and you will hear that amazing sizzling sound 🙂 So you gotta be patient.
After about 1 minute or so, I added 1-2 tablespoon of olive oil into the pan – the olive oil is going to help coat the steak. Then you can place the steak into the pan – be careful with the heat!
Then let the steak cook on that side for 1 minute. I always use a timer when cooking because I am not that good on estimation!
After one minute, carefully flip the steak to the other side and let it cook for another 1 minute. If you picked a rather thick cut, I will always try to cook another one minute on the shorter side as well – normally I just use two forks or something to help it stand on that shorter side.
Then, slice some butter (depends on your preference) and add it into the pan.
Add garlic and rosemary into the pan after butter melted. After adding garlic and rosemary, let it cook for another one minute per side.
Then you are done! Carefully place steak to a plate and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Viola! Now you have a perfect steak dinner and it only takes less than 15 minutes!
PS. This is about medium rare ❤
